Addison is a city in Dallas County , Texas with a population of 14,166 as per the 2000 census. Dating back to 1846, when the city was first settled, the city gets its name from Addison Robertson, who served as postmaster during the years 1908 to 1916. The first industry in the city was cotton gin factory that opened in 1902. The city of Addison was incorporated in 1953. Addison is located in North side of Dallas , Texas at 32°57'28?N, 96°50'6?W

Addison has a daytime floating population of more than 100,000. Major corporations including Pizza Hut, Mary Kay Cosmetics, CompUSA and Palm Harbor Homes are headquartered here.

The Cavanaugh Flight Museum is located near the Addison airport and covers a display area of 50,000 square feet. In this museum, you can find an extensive collection of aircraft, and art and artifacts that pertain to the period between World War I and the Vietnam War. You can also have warbird rides in specific aircrafts. Other attractions include the Addison Square garden, Water Tower theater and Addison Circle Park .

 The Dallas Galleria Mall, fashioned after the famous Galleria Vitorio Emanuele, offers a unique shopping experience with over 200 shops from around the world, restaurants and eateries, situated around an impressive ice rink. Addison has 170 restaurants and 22 hotels with 4,000 hotel rooms.
