Bedford is a city in northeast Tarrant County , Texas between Dallas and Fort Worth . The population of Bedford is 47,000, of which 88% are white, 4% African American and 3% Asian. Bedford is located at 32°50'48?N, 97°8'23?W. T he city has a total area of 10.0 square miles, almost the whole of which is land with just 0.10% water. Hurst and Euless are Bedford 's neighboring cities and share the Bedford Independent School District with it. Highway 121 and Highway 183 are the prominent highways near Bdeford.

The years 2004 and 2005 were marked by great upheavals in the city council,which had increased the tax rate and was then forced to rollit back, resulting in a fund crisis that forced the closure of several public cservcies including the library, hitting the national headlines. A subsequent anonymous donation enabled the services to be partially restarted.

Bedford has several parks and a number of recreational activites.Major parks include the Boys Ranch Park & Activity Center , Meadowpark, Athletic Complex, Bedford Trails / Linear Park , Brook Hollow Park , Central Park, Monterrey Park , Carousel Park , and Stormie Jones Park . The recreation activities include athletics, sports and other programs like painting, yoga, aerobics and crafts. Bedford also constructed a new aquatic park in 2003.

Bedford is part of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District .

Bedford Schools: Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District primarily serves the cities of Bedford, Euless , and Hurst . It also serves, to a lesser extent, small parts of the cities of Colleyville , Fort Worth , and Grapevine . The district operates nineteen elementary schools (K-6), five junior high schools (7-9), and two high schools (10-12).

With the exception of a few special programs offered at the elementary level, the programs offered are generally uniform throughout all district schools, and students are assigned a specific elementary, junior high, and high school based on location.
