| Coppell, is a city in Dallas County , Texas and is a suburb and bedroom community in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex area. A small portion in the northern portion of the city overlaps into Denton County . Coppell is located at 32°58'2?N, 96°59'12?W, at the northwest corner of Dallas County and is close to the DFW airport. It is bordered on the west by Grapevine, on the north by Lewisville , on the east by Carrollton , and on the south by Irving and Dallas. The city has a total area of 14.9 square miles most of which is land not the water.
Most of Coppell is served by the Coppell Independent School District (CISD). Small sections are served by Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District and Lewisville Independent School District . The CISD includes a sizable section of the Valley Ranch and Las Colinas neighborhood in Irving . There are three middle schools, Coppell Middle School North, West, and East, and 10 elementary schools, in the district. Although there was a controversy regarding the ranking of the Coppell High school when it was ranked "academically unacceptable" on a small technicality, this was subsequently appealed successful, giving the school a ranking of "Acceptable".
The city houses the William T. Cozby Public Library and provides services of community interest, encourages reading by children, and supplements the educational needs of the community .
