Sunnyvale Independent school district is located approximately 15 miles from downtown Dallas in an area that enjoys both quiet, tree-lined streets and scenic wide-open spaces, great community pride, and access to nearby Lake Ray Hubbard. The town of Sunnyvale was incorporated in 1953 and covers 17 square miles.
The communities of New Hope, Tripp, Hattersville, and Long Creek came together to make up Sunnyvale Independent school district and it was incorporated on February 26, 1953. These four schools merged to create Sunnyvale School for students in grades Kindergarten through Eighth grade. Sunnyvale students in grades 9 through 12 attend school in the Mesquite ISD.
